There are also a number of other methods however, LetterBomb works without a game and only on System Menu 4.3. LetterBomb’s requirements are easy, as this table from demonstrates. That exploit requires the Super Smash Brothers Brawl game, which isn’t necessarily hard to get or expensive to purchase, but the method we’ll be showing you has far fewer hoops to jump through.

In the past, Nintendo has issued system updates intended to improve performance but also remove “unauthorized channels or firmware may impair game play or the Wii console.” The focus of this article will to show you how to install HBC and HackMii soft mods on the latest and presumably last Wii system update (4.3), with a simple exploit called LetterBomb.

To that end, we might think of the Homebrew Channel as an app launcher channel, which means you can copy special apps and games to your SD card and launch them through the HBC. For example, the Netflix channel on the Wii is nothing more than a glorified Netflix app, and so on. Channels are nothing more really than Nintendo’s version of apps. So when you open a channel, all it’s going to do is give you extended functionality above and beyond just playing games. So what is the Homebrew Channel? It’s simply what it sounds like, a channel, much like the Netflix or Nintendo eShop.

It’s really hard to brick a Wii this way, but it could happen. Put it in your Wii and let it install.Of course, the standard warnings and disclaimers apply: any changes or modifications you perform on your Wii are completely up to you and your sole responsibility. Always check on before running a system update, or running a new game with an auto-updater.ģ. Nintendo could possibly ban you for having this installed in the future. Delete the loader savegame using the Wii system menu, restore your zelda savegames from your PC. Wait as the self-updating Homebrew Channel is installed.ĩ. Play Zelda, load the savegame, talk to the guy in front of you.ħ. On your Wii, delete your Zelda savegame, and then copy the loader savegame from the SD card across.ĥ.

Download and setup the Twilight Hack on an SD card (make sure the card is formatted right first, as per the instructions).ģ. Back these up somewhere with your PC, you'll need to replace the ones on the Wii in a moment.Ģ. On your Wii, copy your Zelda savegames onto an SD card. You've seen the video, now try it yourself!ġ. Both of those built in options make it extremely convenient for testing out new code, as well as a general purpose homebrew launcher. You can also launch homebrew apps via TCP (with a correctly configured PC) or USB Gecko. It will list apps stored and organised on an SD card in a nice little GUI, which you can very easily customise with descriptions and shiny little. The Homebrew Channel is a channel for launching Wii homebrew applications without the need to run the Twilight Hack first.
